At Sapphire 2026 in Orlando, SAP CEO Christian Klein told the audience the company was “becoming a business AI company.” That single line landed harder than any product slide — because behind it sits 50-plus domain-specific assistants, 200-plus specialized agents, and a partner roster that just handed Anthropic, Nvidia and Palantir the keys to roughly 87% of the Fortune 500’s transactional core.

“If AI runs payroll, financial close, or supply chain planning, 80% accuracy is not good enough,” Klein said on stage. That sentence is the strategic wedge of the entire Sapphire 2026 keynote. Consumer-grade large language models tolerate plausible-sounding errors; an enterprise resource planning system that posts a wrong journal entry, mis-routes a shipment or misclassifies a benefits election creates audit liability and revenue leakage at scale.
SAP’s answer is a unified Business AI Platform that fuses Business Technology Platform, Business Data Cloud and the Knowledge Graph into a single governed environment. At its core is what executive board member Muhammad Alam called “company memory” — a context graph that feeds policies, procedures, Slack threads and email approval chains to agents so they know what to do and, critically, what not to do. For developers, Joule Studio 2.0 ships free through year-end with Python, Claude Code and Cursor support, plus a managed runtime.
Business Insight — The new competitive moat in enterprise AI is not benchmark scores but verifiable accuracy on regulated workflows. SAP is betting that whoever owns the system-of-record graph wins the agent layer above it, because precision can only come from grounded context, not bigger models.
Anthropic, Nvidia And Palantir Land Their Biggest Channel Yet
Claude Inside The General Ledger
In a video appearance during the keynote, Anthropic President Daniela Amodei confirmed that Claude models will power Joule agents across finance, procurement and supply chain. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang followed with a segment on OpenShell, the trusted secure runtime that will execute Joule Studio workloads. Palantir and Accenture were named on complex data migration scenarios. Mistral AI and Cohere were positioned as sovereign-model options for customers with regional data-residency requirements.
The deal flow signal arrived from JPMorganChase. CFO Jeremy Barnum told attendees the bank is upgrading its general ledger to SAP’s unified platform and is “exploring agentic capabilities for treasury management.” His framing — “you can’t realize the full potential of AI in a legacy environment” — is the line every SAP account executive will repeat for the next four quarters. Agents built in Joule Studio also support the A2A protocol to interoperate with third-party agent frameworks, and SAP’s orchestration layer will govern non-SAP agents at no extra cost.
Business Insight — Foundation-model vendors are now racing for embedded distribution rather than direct enterprise sales. Being the reasoning layer inside SAP, ServiceNow or Salesforce is worth more than winning a head-to-head bake-off — distribution beats benchmarks when the customer already has a billion rows of context.

SAP brought receipts. KPMG has deployed Joule across 270,000 users, with 3,000 consultants running 20 agents and a stated target of $120 million in reduced contract leakage. Ericsson reports 90,000 hours saved through personalized AI recommendations across 85,000 employees. Bayer is running cash-collection assistants, Novartis has deployed high-volume sourcing agents, and H&M demonstrated a store-intelligence system delivering real-time performance data to store managers.
To accelerate the next wave, SAP launched a €100 million partner fund covering deployment of SAP-built assistants and partner-built agents on the Business AI Platform. RISE with SAP customers will get three Joule Assistants activated within their first year; GROW with SAP customers receive the full assistant portfolio at onboarding. Agent-led transformation tooling automates system analysis, code remediation, configuration and testing, reducing ERP migration effort by roughly 35%. SOX auditor compatibility is built into the agent framework and every agent action is logged and traceable.
Business Insight — SAP is using AI as a migration funnel. Free Joule Studio, bundled assistants in RISE and GROW, and a 35% cheaper migration are designed to convert the long tail of S/4HANA on-premises and ECC holdouts into cloud ERP subscribers. The agent story sells the migration; the migration unlocks the revenue.
